With no true contract negotiation in golf, agents look to endorsement deals to make a living.
If you want to be a golf agent, you will not be banking on the success of your clients. Well at least that is the case on the greens. As one of my hometown papers (the Sun-Sentinel) reports, golf agents do not make any commission on their clients’ prize money, but instead survive on making hefty dollars from endorsement deals [BUSINESS SCENE].
I am reporting on this because it may be a little known fact among the want-to-be-agent community, and agents that do not dabble in the realm of golf may not know about this fact either. But do not be deterred, the logos on players’ shirts, hats and bags give some golf agents more than enough money to live off of.
