Agent Spotlight: John Greig

Basketball agency, SportsTalent, does not have a working website and does not even have an agency profile at respected basketball website, DraftExpress.com.  But a quick look at the company’s listing on Eurobasket, displays an agency rich with overseas players, a few talented NBDL players, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, and a couple of NBA assistant coaches.  The list is even more impressive when you consider that the company is made up of a counselor/talent evaluator, European liaison, and John Greig, the main agent for the firm.  That’s it.

Before becoming an agent, Greig was a professional basketball player.  He had a very short stint with the Seattle SuperSonics (remember them?), and then went on to play in Spain, France, and Switzerland.  It makes it easier to sell your services to players looking to play overseas when you have played the international game yourself.  He also know what it is like to own and operate a business.  After finishing up his professional basketball career, he went into real estate and ran a few coffee shops.

Like many other agents, Greig claims that he was never looking to become a sports agent.  Looks like he is doing just fine in this profession that he got “drug into”.
