CAA may be the new IMG as it has gained the latter’s best agents and team-players. For many years, IMG has been the staple of the Sports Agent world. It has represented some of the best football players (Peyton Manning), baseball players (Derek Jeter), etc. When Ted Forstmann bought the company for $750 million, Peter […]

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
Hoops Are Not Always Earrings
This is a piece for a Pro Dunk Hoops Contest: As I was growing up, a large part of my after-school recreation consisted of shooting hoops into my water-stabilized miniature basketball stand, which forever stood in my driveway. My mother would often watch, feigning interest in the sport, because she usually thought I was a […]
Bears linebacker Lance Briggs may soon be a Washington Redskin. Remember when everyone was going nuts about the Lance Briggs situation? Briggs was mad that the Bears Franchise Tagged him, he loathed the Bears organization, and wanted out of the city [The End Of The Franchise?]. But the major thing that I pointed out here […]
Making Par With Endorsements

Frosty The Fraud Man
David Frost gets arrested again; he uses former client’s credit card to purchase gas. Remember David Frost? Yeah…this guy. It looks like the former NHL agent was never phased by the fact that his former client, Mike Danton (previously named Mike Jefferson), tried to kill him. Because just when you thought that David Frost might […]
1. Joey Porter, now of the Miami Dolphins, and Levi Jones of the Cincinnati Bengals got into a fist fight in Las Vegas and Porter could get a year in jail (doubtful) stemming from a battery charge [Dolphins’ Porter cited for battery in Vegas casino]. 2. Khalif Barnes of the Jacksonville Jaguars proclaims his distaste […]
Some believe that soccer will become a major American sport and kick the NHL out of U.S. homes. One thing that I try to do here at SportsAgentBlog.com – I Want to be a Sports Agent is talk about rising sports and items that may be classified as sports (video gaming) as possible arenas for […]
Let’s Do Chinese
That’s what Kobe Bryant’s agent (Rob Pelinka of SFX) is thinking. The NBA continues to grow in China, and more people are buying jerseys (especially Kobe Bryant’s). Besides being alongside Kobe throughout all of his struggles, Rob Pelinka has helped him become one of the most prized athletes in China. Kobe’s jersey is more popular […]
The Big Baby Is Growing Up
Glen “Big Baby” Davis will leave school early to enter the NBA Draft with John Hamilton of Performance Sports Management Group as his agent. LSU fans may not be too happy, but here in Gainesville, FL, we were ecstatic to find out that Glen Davis will be foregoing his senior year to turn pro this […]
