Sports Debate Marketplace Will Launch In 2015

sportsgavel logoSportsGavel.com, where fans can settle debates on their favorite sports topics, has created a marketplace for sports debate. The website has a formal framework around how responses are valued, and are judged by athletes and personalities that are intimate to the topic.  SportsGavel has recently signed its first judges: Erin Sharoni, sports personality and Kris Benson, former Major League Baseball #1 draft pick, to evaluate upcoming debates beginning January 5th. It is in the process of negotiating a deal with Sports Agent Blog owner Darren Heitner to be a judge as well.

Erin Sharoni is a sports television host and anchor for CBSSports.com and she has co-hosted CNNC Sports Biz on NBC Sports Network. Kris Benson spent nine seasons in Major League Baseball pitching for the Pirates, Mets and Orioles and also representing the U.S. in the Summer Olympics. Benson currently owns his own boutique business management firm that represents high level professionals and individuals.

“We are excited to have Erin and Kris as two of our first debate judges, giving us credibility, while adding a unique dynamic for sports fans,” said Matt Eitner, Founder and CEO of SPORTSGAVEL.  “We are unique in that we provide fans with a structured destination to debate sports, with a clear framework for each debate, and a well-known judge to weigh in on the final decision in choosing the winner.  We look forward to fan participation and feedback as we grow SPORTSGAVEL.”

Each debate will be live for approximately five days before closing, and then the SPORTSGAVEL team and judge will weigh in on a decision, rationale and will ultimately award each debate winner with a Go-Pro camera.  Additionally, the site also has “Pulses,” which are quick hitting sports questions that will poll the results for users to quickly see.
