On To The Next One: Paul Goldschmidt

According to a Tweet by Robert Murray, Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is now represented by Excel Sports Management. He was previously represented by ISE Baseball (formerly Relativity Baseball).

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Delaware-native is one of the premier first baseman in the MLB. He is currently signed to a very team-friendly contract – a five-year deal worth $32.05 million. He was an 8th-round pick in the 2009 amateur draft and is in his sixth season with the Diamondbacks, with whom he has amassed a .300 batting average, 130 home runs and 463 career RBI.

In 76 games this season, the 28-year-old Goldschmidt has hit .301 with 14 home runs and 51 RBI. He joins a client roster at Excel that boasts teammate Zack Greinke, Clayton Kershaw and Masahiro Tanaka among others. Excel is known in the industry for getting their clients big contracts, for which Goldschmidt has set himself up.

Goldschmidt is not the first former ISE Baseball client to switch agencies in 2016, as San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner also left ISE for Excel earlier this year. Bumgarner switched agencies after his then-agent, Tom Little, left for the Ballengee Group.
