On To The Next One: Red Sox Pitching Prospect Tanner Houck

Per a Tweet by Robert Murray, Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Tanner Houck has signed with CAA for his representation. He was previously represented by Jason Wood.

Houck, 21, was drafted by the Red Sox with the 24th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft out of the University of Missouri. The 6’5”, 220 pound right handed pitcher spent the season in Short Season A ball with the Lowell Spinners. In 10 games (all starts) he had a 0-3 record and a 3.63 ERA. In 22.1 innings pitched, he struck out 25 batters.

Houck joined a growing list of players who have left Wood in recent weeks. The former CSE Talent baseball agent has been accused of filming his clients in the shower and is under investigation by the MLBPA. Former clients who have left him in recent weeks include Mitch Keller (Pirates prospect), Jack Odorizzi (Tampa Bay Rays), Riley Pent (Rockies prospect), Joey Wentz (Braves prospect), Cody Asche (Kansas City Royals), Taylor Gushue (Nationals Prospect) and Andrew Benintendi (Boston Red Sox).

As more information is made available in the investigation into Wood, you can expect more clients to be switching agents.
