Catching Up With Impact Sports’ 2012 NFL Draft Class

Impact Sports, a football agency established in 1987 and operating out of Boca Raton, Florida and Los Angeles, California, currently represents over fifty NFL athletes as their NFLPA Contract Advisors.  The Contract Advisors on staff at Impact Sports are Mitch Frankel, Tony Fleming, and Sean Kiernan.  Together, the three have recruited and signed six football players to represent leading up to the 2012 NFL Draft.  The following players in Impact Sports’ 2012 Rookie Class.

Travis Benjamin

  • Hometown, Belle Glade, Florida
  • A wide receiver from the University of Miami
  • Ended his college career as one of only six players in history program with more than 2,000 receiving yards

Zach Brown

  • Hometown, Columbia, Maryland
  • A linebacker from the University of North Carolina
  • In 2010, finished second on the team with 72 tackles, and named first team All-ACC in 2011

Orson Charles

  • Hometown, Tampa, Florida
  • A tight end from the University of Georgia
  • 2011 named a John Mackey Award Finalist, team offensive captain, Second Team All-American

Lavonte David

  • Hometown, Miami, Florida
  • A linebacker from University of Nebraska
  • In 2010 named first-team All-Big 12 choice and was Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
  • 2011 was Awarded Defensive MVP of the team

Jayron Hosley

  • Hometown, Delray Beach, Florida
  • A cornerback from Virginia Tech
  • Was a 2011 Honorable Mention All-American by SI.com and 2011 Second Team All-ACC

Marquis Maze

  • Hometown, Birmingham, Alabama
  • A wide receiver from University of Alabama
  • Candidate for the Paul Horning Award
  • Led the team with 56 receptions which ranks third in the SEC, has two 100-yard receiving games

Darren Adam Heitner, Esq., is a preeminent sports attorney and the founder of Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., a Fort Lauderdale-based law firm specializing in sports law, contract negotiations, intellectual property, and arbitration. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2010 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida in 2007, where he was named Valedictorian of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His thought leadership in NIL has earned him recognition as one of the foremost experts by The Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY, and On3, and he has been lauded as a “power player in NIL deals” by Action Network and a “top sports trademark attorney” by Sportico.

Darren’s passion for sports law led him to establish Sports Agent Blog on December 31, 2005, initially titled “I Want To Be A Sports Agent.” The platform, created as a New Year’s resolution, has grown into a cornerstone of the sports agency community, offering in-depth analysis of industry trends, legal disputes, and agent-player dynamics. His commitment to the field is further evidenced by his representation of numerous athletes and sports agents, as well as his prior role as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington, where he developed and taught a course on Sport Agency Management from 2011 to 2014.
