Dynasty Notes – Part 5

Dynasty Notes will take you through the days when Darren and I (Matthew Vuckovich) did not even know each other, to Dynasty becoming an LLC, to signing our first client, and beyond. If you have not yet read Dynasty Notes – Part 4, go ahead and read it. Enjoy Dynasty Notes – Part 5.

The situation with my friend did not work out, but Darren and I were still determined to land our first client. So we turned to baseball. I had some buddies on the University of Illinois baseball team that were getting ready for the 2007 MLB Draft. I talked to them about the opportunity for Dynasty to advise them before and during the draft. When it was all said and done, we advised only one player. He was a right-handed pitcher from the Chicago land area. During the weeks coming up to the draft, I was on the phone like never before. I would be up at 6am and be on the phone till about 6pm. It really gave me a good reality check of what it takes to survive in this industry. As the draft went on, our guy never got picked up (it’s really hard for a 5th year senior who had Tommy John Surgery to get drafted). I was a little upset because I thought that I had some real interest from a few particular teams, but this is the business of uncertainty. A good thing was that I was able to form some really strong relationships with a lot of scouts in the MLB through this process.

The draft was over, Dynasty still had yet to sign its first client, and I made the move to California for law school while Darren was fighting hurricanes in Florida. We needed to make something happen. The good thing for Darren and me is that I don’t think that you will find 2 guys in this world that are as motivated, driven and determined as we are when it comes to “making it happen.” I know one thing for a fact: Hard work will always bring about opportunity if you just stay on track. As we continued to search for our first client, we came across a right-handed pitcher from Abilene, Texas by the name of Kyle Monroe-Dison [Dynasty Athlete Representation Is On The Map]. Kyle reached out to us for representation. He was coming off of Tommy John Surgery and was looking to get on a team. For those of you who do not know Dison, he is a remarkable guy and you can check him out at: http://yardbarker.com/users/MonroeDison. He has the motivation, drive and determination to make it to “the show”. With qualities like that, both Darren and I felt that he would be a perfect first client for Dynasty. With our first client signed we were beginning to really make things happen. This business is all about personal relationships, but it is also about production. Without production you don’t have any credibility. Darren and I were working on building a respected name within the industry by way of our production and it was starting to turn heads.
