Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

Tough season for my Florida Gators, but we finally have a new coach. Hope remains high for the Miami Dolphins, with a big game against the Baltimore […]
The agent for Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett believes that paying college athletes a stipend on top of receipt of athletic scholarships is inevitable. Earlier this week, football agent and attorney J.R. Carroll spoke publicly about his position and took a position that I have held for quite some time — it is ridiculous to […]
I hope everyone reading this had a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoys the rest of their weekend. For me, it has been full of food, family, football and today a nice round of golf. The weather in South Florida is beautiful, which once again reminds me why I choose to live in this tropical paradise. This […]
The following article is a guest contribution from Kristen L. Chiger, Esq., an attorney licensed to practice in New Jersey. Not many Shabbat Shalom wrap-ups before the start of a new year. Where did the time fly? But before a new year comes a wealth of football, including some Thanksgiving Thursday match-ups next week. I was at UNC-Chapel Hill last weekend to celebrate their homecoming. Beautiful place, but boy was it cold outside! Stay in South […]
Had a fantastic time in New York last weekend. Spent all day Sunday chowing down on Mark Schlereth’s delicious creations while watching football at DIRECTV’s FantasyZone in Soho. Life could have been worse for those few hours. Today, I am off to Raleigh, North Carolina and will get to experience UNC for the first time […]

Another week, another trip. This Saturday I am off to New York City. I hear that Sidebar is the spot to go to watch the Florida Gators game at night, so if you are in town you should feel free to stop by and watch the team that dominated Georgia last week. I am also […]
