Glenn Toby & Raymond Felton Giving Charlotte A Thanksgiving To Remember

Glenn Toby is one of my friends in this industry.  How could you not love the guy?  He showed up this past January at the 2009 UF Sports Law Symposium to support my effort in putting together the event, even though one of his best friends had just passed away.  He is a man of integrity, and his best work has not even been accomplished as an agent.  Instead, he should be most proud about his creation titled, The Book Bank Foundation.  Let me remind you of a post I wrote in honor of the 2008 Blog Action Day, which had a focus on poverty.

We can follow the lead of Glenn Toby.  Glenn, himself, had to deal with poverty as a child.  He went from not knowing if he would have a comfortable place to sleep at night to becoming a sports and entertainment executive worth many millions.  He has represented LL Cool J, 50 Cent, and Asante Samuel among many other big name clients.  Still, with all of his success, he gives back to those who need money a lot more than he does.  Toby is doing his part to ensure that young disadvantaged children have more opportunities than he did growing up.

Glenn Toby has gone from homeless to hero.  With all of his great achievements, he takes the most pride in the creation of the Book Bank Foundation.  It was formed in 1997 with the goal of boosting literacy among the nation’s youth.  Its mission is to make a positive impact on the communities in which we live by providing homeless children and their families resources for combating illiteracy.  The emphasis is placed on helping inner-city children who are often poverty stricken.

My mom, whom I love so very much, even put together book drive to benefit The Book Bank Foundation.  As we all prepare to enjoy our Thanksgiving Dinners with our families, we should think about the many children who will not have the same opportunity to partake in the festivities.  Glenn Toby definitely has them on his mind.

Tomorrow, The Book Bank Foundation and Charlotte Bobcats point guard, Raymond Felton will be giving back to the Charlotte community for the Holiday in an unprecedented way.  Glenn Toby has partnered in the charity event.  The event marks the first time ever a Bobcats player will have attempted to feed over 200 people during the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Boldly wielding his influence and mass appeal, Felton intends to carry on the Book Bank Foundation’s torch of hope and charity in an effort to enlighten Charlotte’s poverty stricken.  Included in the less fortunate are an estimated 3,000 children that will be provided food, clothing, non-perishable goods, inspiration and wisdom.  Felton plans on echoing the Book Bank Foundation’s principals, all while incorporating in his own. 

Bobcats shooting guard, Gerald Henderson, Kamille Leai (VH1’s ‘Hot Wings’ of “Real Chance of Love”), and VH1’s Dalen Spratt of “I Want to Work for Diddy2” will also join the Book Bank Foundation along with Felton, to serve and speak to the attendees of the event. Thanksgiving provisions offered at 2 locations throughout the day: from 8am-12pm at The Uptown Shelter, 1210 N. Tryon Street; and from 12pm-3pm at The Salvation Army, 534 Spratt Street.

Glenn Toby certainly does a lot of good for society, and he is a wonderful person as well. The best part of this post, however, is the comment you make about your mother. She thinks the world of you too.

How does Toby represent Samuels when he is not NFLPA certified?

Thanks for posting the press release for the “Ray of Hope” charity event with Raymond Felton. It went AMAZINGLY well! As does anything Glenn touches or deals with.

Raymond, Glenn and the BBF army of volunteers were able to feed and assist literally THOUSANDS this Thanksgiving week alone! He’s one of my best friends in the world, I speak with him daily and still don’t understand how he’s able to do it all! Such an awesome soul!

Also, you were pretty “on the money” with your answer. As you know Alonzo Chavis has been a partner and working with Glenn his entire sports career and together they have created an untouchable, transparent force with their management and representation. Glenn was the one that brought the diversity and multi-faceted approach to their firms’ representation by infusing the marketing & music/entertainment side of things. And as he said on his Press Pass interview, he also brought “the swagg”. He specializes in the marketing and management of his players, along with Alonzo. But I’m sure you know he does far more than that.

Just when I think we’ve covered every industry or aspect therein, he’s got a new idea, new spin on things, something new for me to figure out and learn, and then write a press release on. MAVERICK doesn’t begin to describe him!

I have to say, out of all the opportunities he’s created for me along with everything else we work on together, BBF work is definitely our favorite. Glenn becomes a child at Christmas when he sees the look of hope resurface on a face he’s just helped to feed or clothe or educate.

Who does Glenn represent as a sports agent? I’ve searched and I can not find one player that Glenn currently represents.
